Watch Red Carpet arrivals at the premiere of Tortoise in Love and listen in on interviews with stars Tom Mitchelson, Alice Zawadzki, a pair of very tall brothers also featured in the movie.
Thursday May 24th 2012 saw the first ever film premiere to be held at London’s iconic and newly refurbished Leicester Square. The historic square has undergone a £15.3m redevelopment to create a revamped international space for the city. The new development, which commenced in December 2010, will ensure LSQ is a London destination to be proud of and a vibrant landmark for the city.
In a surprise reveal, the film being screened wasn’t a major Hollywood blockbuster by any standards, but a micro-budget independent British debut feature from the heart of the English countryside entitled Tortoise In Love . Starring Tom Mitchelson and Alice Zawadzki and written and directed by Guy Browning, Tortoise In Love will be released in cinemas across the UK on July 13th.
Tortoise In Love is a charming romantic comedy that was made through the generosity and labour of the people of Kingston Bagpuize, a small village in the heart of rural Oxfordshire, UK. With the entire cast and crew lodging with villagers, the local Women’s Institute oversaw catering and over 400 volunteers assisted with props, transport, costumes, make-up and innumerable other tasks. The film is a great success story for independent British filmmaking, and it was a real honour for us to witness the magnificent team effort come to fruition.
